Why hello there! It’s me, Amy. Yes, I still blog here. Or at least I used to. Sheesh! What a month! Who knew that the hardest thing about writing a book is figuring out what to blog about while you’re writing it. Seriously though, I never thought about it until now, but goodness, it’s true for me. I’m neck deep in the most fulfilling sewing of my life, and sitting down here to blog to you about pictures from my family vacation. It’s bizarre.
So last week we enjoyed an amazing long weekend getaway up in the Rocky Mountains with extended family. The only regrettable bit was that Russ ended up getting ill the day before we were set to drive up, so I took all 4 of our kids up by myself. !!!! Yes, I know. I don’t know if ‘relaxing’ is quite the right descriptor…invigorating? Exhaustingly beautiful? No matter, because we made some great memories.
This one was funny…my sister, cousin, and I were enjoying this gorgeous view while taking a dip in the hot tub, and of course posting pictures of this idyllic scene all over social media like crazy. If only folks knew how utterly chaotic this hot tub dip actually was. Our hair and faces were dripping wet as our 4 little girls splashed like maniacs, getting in, then out, in, then out, in and out over and over again to play mini golf in the course that surrounded the hot tub, while they sang the Frozen soundtrack at the top of their lungs. It was anything but relaxing, but somehow this view made it all ok.
So yes, the weekend in the mountains. Amazing. Just what I needed, sort of. But that was just a small bit of all the beauty that seemed to surround me this week. Just this morning, my happy little 4yo ran inside to show me that one of our snowball bushes had finally bloomed. I grabbed my camera and literally had time to snap just one photo in auto-mode- this was it. Zero editing, no filters. Just this gem, a gift. Might be my favorite picture ever!
Well, then of course we had to run outside and take a few more.
Another fun shot from today, and I was excited to get it because I feel like my family spends so much time doing this- wrestling and tickling- and I have the hardest time capturing the sheer fun of these crazy times. What a joy to have caught this moment…
The kids are really growing- especially the boys who got their second much-needed haircut this week. How did my babies turn into little boys in just 10 minutes?
Ooh, and I had to laugh at this. Do you happen to remember that post from a couple of years ago when I met Anna Maria Horner for the first time, and was wearing a dress I made in her fabric, using her Museum Tunic pattern? This was me about 2 weeks before I gave birth to the twins wearing that dress….
And here is my 6yo wearing the same exact dress, out to dinner for her birthday last week. She insists it’s her size, and somehow I can’t argue.
Frankly, I’m just glad it’s getting some use!
Well there’s a little slice of life through my lens right now! Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’re well, and that you’re enjoying some beautiful moments! <BIG HUG!>
XO
What a lovely weekend, but oof! You’re brave to take all four offspring on your own. Glad Russ is now well enough for wrestling.
I can’t wait for your book. Where can I preorder it? :-)
Beautiful beautiful, people, places and memories X
Casa Bonita? Oh the memories!
The views looked stunning, I envy your long weekend, but as tiring as it undoubtedly was, it’s the good memories like the laughs on that sofa are the ones that will last the longest, forever actually thanks to that fantastic photo. And your 6 year old in that dress? hilarious, I LOVE that you let her wear it for her ‘grown-up’ birthday dinner, I bet she felt like a princess all night. I know what you mean about your babies, it’s that first haircut that does it, I’m convinced that as soon as the baby curls hit the floor, the growing up too fast gene kicks in. What Happy Days you are sharing with us, I wish you millions more. xx
I love how much beauty your photographs capture. Both nature and family. How well they go together. Some of our best times are camping weekends. Your little crew are blooming faster than the flowers. They are so darn cute. I do know what you mean about how they grow so fast. My granddaughter will be nine this July. I was just rocking her to sleep yesterday, wasn’t it. Good to see you all had a great time and I love that you share it with us. Looking forward to your book, I am hoping you will do some signed ones, yes!!!
Beautiful post! Thanks!
Fun! Thanks for sharing
Love the pics – mountains and your beautiful family. I still remember those energetic days ‘of my youth’ with 4 children :). Loved them – now we have 1 or 2 little ones over and I’m glad my husband is there to help!!
I’m so glad you had a wonderful memory-making time with family and that your husband is feeling better again.
Sweet. Everyone needs down time to rejuvenate. Love the picture of your daughter in your maternity dress. Never been to the Rocky Mts. Someday.
It’s always a good day when I find a blog from you in my email! I’m so excited that you’re writing a book! Can’t wait to read it!!
Thank you so much for sharing your family through your blog. You are truly blessed, and I always enjoy seeing your pictures. Your daughter looks so cute in that dress!! It looks like a kimono on her.
Oh Amy, I love the memories that your blog brings out of our own family adventures! Such full happy times we had, just like you are enjoying. And now we have grandkids to keep the discovery of memorable adventures alive. It’s all good!! Thanks for sharing. Lovely family! Can’t wait to read your book!
Enjoy this time with your family! Before you know it they will be teens who don’t “know you” (they will grow out of that) because you embarrass them. I’m glad you had a time away with family – that’s way more important than blogging!
Amy, your blogs always brighten my day. What great family pictures! I LOVE that your daughter wanted to wear your dress! So cute! These are such priceless times. The photos of your younger daughter and the flowers, your little guys who are growing like weeds, and you with some “downtime”. LOL!
I love your blog and the peek into your life! I miss those days with my 4 kids! What memories your are making for your children, so often I think the younger parents are so caught up in making a living that they forget to make those happy memories for their children. I am always saying to my kids, remember what it was like at their age and what do you want your children to remember. :)
I’ve been looking quite often to hear how you and the family are doing. SO ENJOYED the pictures. May God bless you with energy as you raise these little ones and enjoy every second as you know, in a fleeting moment (so it seems) they’ll be grown up.
Amy great to here from you again, love your pictures. It is good when chaos can be fun..
So enjoyed your pictures! Revel in the moments with your family and making memories!! Time goes so fast and then they are grown up. What an adorable family you have!!!
so fun!!!
I love the way make every moment count. You are one special lady Miss Amy
Your children are just beautiful! You and Mr. Dock are truly blessed! xo Regina
