If At First You Don’t Succeed, Failure May Be Your Thing

September 8, 2011 Leave a Comment

Good morning sleepyhead! How about a fresh baked raspberry scone & some coffee?

Just kidding, you probably don’t want one of these. Seeing as I apparently over-mixed the heck outta them and ended up with lovely-looking but horribly dry, dense scones, that have been sitting on my cake stand, uneaten, for several days now. Thankfully the recipe was HUGE so I only wasted 3 entire sticks of butter and 3 1/2 cups of flour on them. Ugh.

This week feels like a week of failures for me. Been trying to make some headway on my Across The Sea Quilt, since I’m pretty much the last to post Flickr pics of my finished top. When I finally got the kids napping the other day, and realized I’d sewed an entire stack of squares to the wrong pieces because I’m brain dead, it was tough to muster the energy to fix them. Seam ripper and I got chummy.

Finally got a few squares done last night, before attempting to read a book and falling asleep 1 page into it.

I’m also 2 weeks behind in the Skill Builder Sampler, but let’s just forget quilting for a sec. My kitchen is a complete bomb. I have 5 loads of clean laundry to fold. Set the smoke alarm off at breakfast this morning and my entire house smells of bacon…BUT I WILL STOP COMPLAINING NOW! I have so much to be thankful for, and just because we’re all still in jammies with morning hair at 1:30pm doesn’t mean I’m a SAHM failure! Sometimes it just feels good to vent…

…and throw things, but that’s another blog post.

I need to either A) get it together, or B) forgive myself for not having it together. I think B would be a healthy choice.

Ahh, life. On a cheery note, we made it to a Rockies game on Labor Day- our first and possibly last of the season. What a blast.

Brought my hexies along for the ride, and made a bit of progress actually, since the innings are soooo looooong (and exciting). They were a hit…everyone in the row wanted a peak at the sewing extravaganza going on in seat 8.

Knew this little zip pouch that Amy aka Sukie sent me as a little gift during the Feeling Fussy Modern Fabric Swap would the perfect thing to carry them around in! Thanks Sukie!!

Mmm, I love hexies. They have a smile-inducing effect, don’t they?
