Lastly, there’s my old Calanda Zig-O-Matic. I rescued this old girl from a dingy thrift store for a few bucks, and gave her a happy new home :) Her first project was my modern mini, since my Viking only does straight stitch, and I’d decided to do some zig-zag applique for that one.
Be sure to stop on over and visit all of the other stops on the blog hop as well. What a fun way to get aquainted with some new blogs and friends. :)

And before I sign off here, I must announce the winner of the March Sugar Block $75 Fat Quarter Shop Giveaway!!! Congrats to our random winner, DEBBIE WEISHAAR!!! Great job getting your blocks done, and I’m so delighted to hear that you’re involving your grandson in your quilting! Enjoy your gift certificate!
Love it. I’m always curious as to what machines other people use.
I bought my Viking about 13 years ago and never looked back although I wish it would make coffee sometimes! I just don’t have the passion for old machines as I always was sewing on them as a kid and when I got the Viking I got the features I could afford!
Amy – thanks so much for participating in the hop! I really enjoyed the post and I’m feeling like a vintage machine might be in my future – what treasures! Our linky party will be up all week so others can join in the machine madness :)
I love your old Montgomery Ward blue machine! I also have a vintage blue machine but have never used it… this makes me want to take it in for a tune up and get to work on it!
Loving the fact that you named your machines :) Wonderful idea. I do love the Singer Featherweight, such a pretty looking machine, but the others are good machines also. I have a 30 year old New Home machine that weighs a ton and has loads of stitches on it. Stays on my table as you can break your back lifting it, but it is so reliable and much better than the modern plasticy things.
Hey Amy!
Thank you so much for hopping with us today! I loved seeing all of your machines (that Featherweight looks MINT! and your Viking – do you know what the throat space is on it?
I hope you had fun writing up your post, it was a lot of fun reading it!
Happy quilting,
Erin
This is great! I am shopping for a sewing machine, so I will be sure to checkmall the other posts.
Nice post! And beautiful family!! I also have the Viking mega quilter. It has been sitting unused in my sewing room for about two years. The last project I tried, which was only my third or fourth project, had major tension problems. As I turned dials and frantically tried to fix the tension I just messed it up more. Any suggestions? Should I just take it in to a shop and have them fix it? I also have the stitch regulator and wonder if I did something to the machine when I added that in. Frustrating, though it’s a great place to hang fabric!
Amy,
Thanks for sharing your machines. Have fun using them. I have 12 machines ,4 I do not use they are old and need service or fixing before I can use them.
Your four machines are so neat! Thank you for sharing them!
Your machines are lovely! Thanks for sharing.
Love your vintage machines! I have a few, too – including a featherweight. Your sewing space looks so bright and inviting!
It’s lovely seeing your older machines and reading you love story, you should be the one photographing the Sew Lux Fabrics, I so want to buy a bundle of that fabric you got. Thanks for sharing.
Love your machines. My grandma’s name was Helen. I named my oldest daughter after her.
Do you ever come to Ohio?
Such pretty machines!!! I also lov e the light and airiness of your sewing room- would love to see more! ;) Here’s where I blogged about my machine today- http://meandelna.blogspot.com/2013/03/meet-elna-and-her-crib.html .
Your machines are beautiful. Love the blue one! Your sewing room is so bright and neat. Thank you for sharing.
Great machines. That featherweight is gorgeous!! I actually did a quick inhale when I saw it… wow!
I love all the vintage machines. When you buy them from yard sales or thrift shops, do you usually bring them in to a sewing machine repair shop to get it ready to use?
I love the 2 quilt blocks peeking over the back of Whizzy! Did you design them?
Thanks for sharing! Love your blog!
Congratulations to the winner – enjoy your spending spree :O) looking forward to seeing your creation using your fabrics
