My Weekend w/ AMH & A Giveaway!

August 9, 2012 Leave a Comment

Yes, it’s true. I spent a whoooooole weekend with Anna Maria Horner! Well, almost a whole weekend- Friday night, all day Saturday, and what felt like a lifetime of awesomeness. (And yes, I’m 100% dork for sporting my bump in my museum tunic the first night, courtesy of Anna’s stellar tutorial & fabric design- she loved it!). What a treat to have her visit our Modern Quilt Guild chapter for a lecture (more like a 4 hour enlightenment), and a full day of sewing her Multi-Tasker Tote together!

Oh, AND, I can’t forget the GIVEAWAY! How could I rub all this fun in your face without a peace offering? Read to the end for details on how to win this signed copy of Anna Maria’s Multi-Tasker Tote pattern!!!

First off, hard not to love Anna Maria from the very first minute you meet her. Her smile and laugh are electric. So fascinating to hear her share all about her life’s journey, from her deeply rooted artistic heritage, to her early years of painting and clothing design, to now- countless top-selling fabric lines, renowned sewing patterns, books, embroidery patterns and supplies, home goods, paper goods…and every single shred of it creatively inspired at the deepest level (oh, and did I mention she’s accomplished all of this while raising 6 kids?).

Seeing & touching her trunk show of quilts was a slice of heaven, and I am irreversibly inspired to back my next quilt in voile and add some luscious hand embroidery!

Log Mansion quilt in flannels and backed with voile (no batting)…yes, it makes me giddy too!

Her latest and greatest- the feather quilt!!!! I think this one is absolutely brilliant!

Sewing buddies now, yeah, no big deal. We shared taco-flavored Doritos & red velvet cake (for her birthday) while listening to a collection of goodies off her iPod. What does Anna Maria listen to when she sews? Bono, Nirvana, The Killers…and my personal favorite, Johnny Cash.

And here’s my bag!!! I couldn’t resist choosing to 2 prints from her brand spanking new line, Field Study, out in stores any day now. What a delightful pattern! The 4 outer pockets are perfect for quick access to my phone, keys, sunglasses, water bottle…OR a baby bottle! Yes, this tote makes a fabulous diaper bag. In fact, I already have pieces cut for a second bag, in the same fabrics shown on the pattern (I couldn’t resist) to use as my diaper bag.

Well how about you! Wanna make one? I snagged a signed copy just for you, so here’s your chance to win it!!!
