On My Bookshelf: Sew a Modern Home

August 22, 2014 17 Comments

Book month continues here on Stitchery Dickory Dock!  I’m taking the month of August to highlight some fantastic new books coming out right now, by several wonderful friends.  Last week I shared about the Fat Quarter Shop’s brand new book, Fat Quarter Style, and today’s exciting new book is Sew a Modern Home, by the lovely Melissa Lunden!  I love this book not only because it’s packed with gorgeous modern designs, but also because it really hits at the heart of what quilting means to me- making quilts to be enjoyed everyday!  I’m not one to hide my quilts away in a cupboard- I want to use them, and I want my family to use them, and to love them.  There are quilts scattered all over my house- ready and waiting for an impromptu snuggle or a makeshift puppet stage.  I love that Melissa had the home in mind with all of these quilts, and I can see so many of them fitting perfectly into my home!

What a great book. I love to make quilts for several rooms in the home, but most end up as snuggling quilts for the front room. I like to see them out, so this is the ideal place. Thanks for the preview and giveaway.

I like quilts in the living room to snuggle up while watching tv. And definitely in the bedroom.

I love the look of this book! I only have one quilt, it sits over the back of my sofa. Would really love to make the Dessert Morning Quilt featured in the book!

I love to make quilts for my living room. If I’m working late or watching tv, I want to be able to wrap up.
