I really really hate buying greeting cards, and honestly (ssshhhhh) I almost hate receiving them too! $3, $4, even $5 for a commercialized printed card from a factory, written by who knows? Could it be less personal? I feel like I could write a note on a Post-It and it would be more meaningful than most of these cards. And do you save them?….I always feel guilty throwing a card away! Every so often I run across a stack from a past birthday, anniversay…..eek, can’t bear to toss but they don’t have a place.
No more. Well, not really, since I’m sure I’ll continue to receive a plethora of drug store greeting cards throughout my life…, but I’m not going to be a giver of them! I’m trying to use little scraps to make “quilt cards” that are almost a gift in and of themselves- just special, handmade little pieces of art, with words from the heart hand-written inside. So special. Worth tacking to a bulletin board, at least for a while.
