The Babies Are Home!

September 22, 2012 2 Comments

Major happenings over here in Stitchery Dickory land! I just had to take a quick break from all the sleepless madness to post an update. After just 26 days in the NICU, our 7 week preemie twin boys finally came home with us this past Tuesday! What euphoria to have our family together at last!

First family photo with all 6 of us together!

As odd as it may sound, this day felt bigger than, dare I say it, even their birth day. Can any of you other NICU moms relate? From the isolettes and jaundice lights, to heart rate monitors and IVs, it almost feels like our bout in the NICU was more of a labor than the birth itself…each little ml gained was a centimeter dilated, each tube eliminated was a contraction we’d overcome. Then finally, with one great push from the dedicated staff at our local high-level NICU, we’re out the door and onto the good stuff- LIFE!

First car ride. Felt like we were stealing them when we actually walked out the door with them!

My sweet helper, who’s especially head over heels for Samuel, the baby she named all by herself.

To celebrate, my sis thew me the most delightful shower! The Dr. Seuss Thing 1 & Thing 2 theme was too cute to handle. Seriously. Too cute for words. I was on such a high for days from all the love and support….and the red dye #40.

What an unbelievable month! I’m exhausted, borderline delirious really, but overjoyed nonetheless. Can’t wait to get into somewhat of a schedule groove. One day at a time….

Congratulations on your two wonderful additions to your family. I have been away from the Craftsy website for a few months and was really tickled to see you were having twins. I have fraternal girl/boy twins, born 22 years ago today. Catching up on some of your blogs, I am very happy to see that your boys are doing well and are home with the family. I love the Thing 1/Thing 2 concept for your shower. I have used that phrase many times over the years regarding my now grown up babies. My other favorite saying is that I liked buy one, get one free so much that I ended up having twins! Again, congratulations on your healthy family!

Amy, you have a beautiful family! I’m so happy for you. I’m a late comer to your blog & I just finished watching the last episode of the 2012 BOM. You are thoroughly delightful to watch and I love the blocks you chose. However, nothing beats the pics of your precious little ones all 4 of them. Babies are my most favorite thing on earth. Cherish every moment!
    Hugs, Cheri
