The Sugar Block Club is Back!

November 27, 2015 52 Comments

Why hello dear friends!  What a delight to finally be back on the blog after a much-needed hiatus!  Oh how I’ve missed you!  SO so much to catch up on.  We’ve been busy!  At the moment though, anything BUT busy is the goal.  We’re savoring a fabulously mellow Thanksgiving weekend here in the Gibson household…a feast with loved ones yesterday, and this weekend we’re kicking our feet up with leftover pie, movies, and Christmas decorating (and perhaps a few sled runs if this snow keeps up).

WELL, on to the title of this post…the Sugar Block Club!  As some of you might know, the Sugar Block Club is the monthly block of the month program I’ve hosted here on my blog since 2013.  This year (2015), I decided to take a break from it to allow time for some other exciting projects.  Well, I am happy to say that the Sugar Block Club is back, and this time it will be free!  That’s right, this year’s club is free!

Sugar Block Club Button 450

Starting January 1, 2016, I’ll be posting monthly sampler block patterns right here on my blog.  And it’s easy to stay up to date when new blocks or patterns are added- just enter your email address below to subscribe to receive
Along with the free block tutorial, I’ll also be offering for-purchase downloadable quilt patterns to accompany each block.  So you can follow along with me and stitch up a single block each month, or, if you like, you can go a step further and stitch a whole new quilt inspired by that month’s block!  It’s the best of both worlds!  Then at the end of the year, we’ll explore some fun, unique layout ideas for sewing your blocks together.

I do hope you’ll join me in following along with this year’s Sugar Block Club!  Mark your calendar, start thinking about your fabrics, and be sure you are subscribed so that you don’t miss any updates.

Happy Thanksgiving!  XO

So happy to hear from you.
Your block club sounds fun. I know you are busy with four kiddies
It is wonderful to see them learning this skill, and doing something useful.
Your girls remind me of my very own…. that are now adults, newly married and my oldest is a new mama, very tired. We are so lucky to live 9 miles apart.
I am very proud of your efforts, Amy. We are so blessed to have so much good

Awesome! I made all the blocks for the 2013 Sugar Club (though I still haven’t turned them into a quilt, unfortunately). I couldn’t participate in the 2014, but I did enjoy reading all the “Be” posts that went along with the blocks. I’m looking forward to another year. Maybe I’ll use the same colours as my 2013 blocks and then finally turn them all into a quilt…

Hi Gaye! I had a little glitch first thing this morning but all should be fixed now so give it another go! If it says you’re already subscribed, that you’re all good to go- that just means you’re already on my mailing list so you will definitely get the emails. :)

Hey Amy! Super follower here! Found you on Craftsy years ago, you taught me how to quilt when I had no idea what it was. I’m now a huge part of my guild and even run a little baby quilt charity. You also have inspired me not to give up with my home schooling/traditional catholic school hybrid lifestyle.

I squealed when I saw your doing the sugar block again!! Yipee!! You are very talented :)This should be a fun year! Happy Holidays :)

Hi Amy, I just received this email 9 hours ago. yet as I signed up and received that message that I am already on list (as I joined you with the ETSY Block of the Month club in 2012), I see that there are several posts from November from your other fans and subscribers. Why does it seem I always get mine so late? OH Well! Better late than never!
I love your posts. I read them all. I have the fabric for the 2012 block of the month and have not made the quilt yet. I was still working then, but am now retired and have no excuses except that I am busier now than when I was working. I am photographer for the Dixie Quilt Guild, and Membership chairman for the Red Cliffs Range. I also go to as many classes as I can at my local Bernina Store and just became the Monthly teacher of the Bernina Software class. I am having a ball and trying to learn to sew, quilt and embroider all at once as they are all new crafts to me. Just returned from a Babylock LongArm retreat so now have no excuse for not quilting the quilt tops I have completed or the ones I promised to do for our Philanthropy group. I don’t want to go to sleep at night because there are so many things that I want to do. LOL
Every once in a while I get so many things finished and I am ecstatic those times. Amy, I wish you and your lovely family a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR. When I learn how to upload photos I promise I will send you a photo of your quilts that I have made. I did also just receive your book that I ordered so long ago “FOR KEEPS”. It is beautiful, congratulations. Lovely photos throughout, crisp clear directions and figures.
    Thanks AGAIN,
