I just have to take a quick break from the frenzy of this first week, from the emotional path being carved between our house and the NICU, to let you know how very grateful I am for your overwhelming encouragement and congratulations! I always try my hardest to reply to each and every comment, as I just LOVE hearing from you, but must admit that it’s tough this week. Please know that I read every single one, and am touched by your kindness and support! THANK YOU!!! (By the way, if you never seem to get a response from me, it’s probably because I can’t access your email address! Check out this post I wrote last year, in an effort to help us connect better.)
The boys are doing GREAT! Slowly but steadily gaining weight, and it seems every time we come to visit, they have graduated to a new level…first it was getting off oxygen, now it’s IVs and pulse ox monitors. Today we dressed them in their little preemie jammies for the first time (since their IVs aren’t in the way anymore!), and tomorrow we will be offering bottles & breast for the first time.
Truly, if you know me, you know my deep love for quilting, and I just can’t wait to get back to sharing about all of the projects I have in the works, but I must admit that it feels so amazing to be able to just be real here on my blog, and to just post what life brings…right now, it’s the unique joys and struggles that come with preemies, and twin preemies to boot!

Samuel, the oldest by just a minute, looking very serious. His personality is turning out to be exactly what I had sensed it was in the womb!

We’re encouraged to do “kangaroo care” often- skin to skin contact with the babies helps them regulate their body temperatures, promotes breast feeding, and of course aids in good bonding.

The kids only get one visit over the course of the babies’ entire stay, so we tried to make the most of every minute. I understand the reasoning behind the rule…so many fragile babies, and the last thing they need are germs spread from schools and daycares, but it’s hard. Hard on the kiddos, but hardest on the parents. Luckily, just a temporary hardship.

“I feel like I know you from somewhere? Where did you go to high school? Oh wait, I remember, you grew me in your womb!”
Wishing you a fabulous holiday weekend! Whether you spend it outside, enjoying the gorgeous late summer weather, or inside catching up on some sewing, I hope it’s a delightful break from the norm!
Oh Amy, I can’t sleep … So I am learning all kinds of good things (invisible thread) from you web site … And the history of your twins. So happy all turned out well … Your energy is amazing and I just wanted to say hi and THANKS for all you do. Nancy Van Landingham
