Craftsy’s Block Of The Month & A New Moda Recipe!

December 19, 2011 Leave a Comment

Hi Friends! What an exciting Monday! I’m thrilled to finally share with you what I’ve been feverishly working on and hinting about these past couple of monthes. Yes, there is an acceptable excuse for the state of my house…or so I tell myself. My great friends over at Craftsy are getting ready to launch their first-ever quilt block of the month video series, designed and hosted by, yup……yours truly.

Wowzers! What a project! At this very moment (well, at the moment that you’re reading this at least), I’m on set shooting segments of it, and hoping my Crest White Strips have done their job. Be a good friend and tell me they have, would ya?

The sampler quilt is sooooo cute. It’s a free 12 month series including 20 fabulously versitile blocks (all of which deserve a quilt of their own, truly), as well as some helpful tips toward the end on layout, basting, quilting, and binding.

The quilt is made from Annette Tatum’s new line, Boho. Soooo lovely. More muted and earthy than I usually do but it’s a really refreshing change.

One of the producer’s mother used to be a magazine quilt editor and loaned me this vault of knowledge to help in my design process…it just might get lost beneath a pile of laundry and not make it back to her desk.

Seriously though, I’m hunting for a copy of my own. This book is ridiculous. References literally every quilt block known to man, including who’s credited with it’s design and when. Absolutely mind boggling to run across so many “modern” trendy blocks that have really been around since the 1930s or earlier.

Anyway, I’ll keep you posted when the first episode launches next month! It’s easy to subscribe by email if you don’t want to have to remember to check in to see the new blocks each month, and I’m also super excited to answer questions and join in the chatter on Craftsy’s discission forum. There’s even a gallery where folks can post pics of their blocks, comment, and heart their favs. Going to be such a fun year!

Also, don’t miss my fun little new recipe over on Moda Bake Shop today! Just a cute little patchwork coffee cozy….super easy, charm-friendly, great stocking stuffer. I’ve made a slew of them for friends & co-workers so far, and now it’s time to make one for ME!

Used Moda’s new line Half Moon Modern, which I adoooore, and can’t wait to use in a quilt. So many fantastic geometric prints, and the colors are to die for! Fresh & crisp, just how I like ’em.

Had to throw in a touch of Sashiko embroidery, of course. My fav. I’m a little obsessed with it these days, which ain’t a bad thing. Sashiko makes everything cuter!

Hope you’ll hop over to take a peek!

XO
