What is it about these little things that is so darned cute? It’s hard to hate them. Why? Well, first of all they’re cheap- love. Match any decor- love. Perfect cute circles that come in a zillion sizes- love. Seriously people, they are EVERYWHERE. They’re modern , they’re quaint, they’re magical, and apparently they’re even organizational.
What do you think? Gaga or gag? Isn’t it trendy not to be trendy these days? Last night I decided to give them a little trial run in the window behind my sewing machine table.
Must admit, when I waltzed in this morning in my bathrobe, eating oatmeal and about to sit down to check my email, they lured a little smile from my lips. And I’m not the only one. Minutes later, when my 2yo came bolting toward the front door to head out for preschool, complete with wet hair and violently swinging mini backpack, she jerked to a stop the minute the hoops of happiness came into view. Gazing up at them like they were shimmering fairydusted cupcakes, almost too delightful to stick a finger in, she exclaimed “Mommy!! Those are beeeeeaauuutiful!”
Sold. They stay.
Only one pet peeve though. I HATE the idea of cutting my precious favorite fabrics into jagged circles that will never see the light of my sewing machine again. Too permanent. Too heartbreaking. So I decided I didn’t have to cut them. Used folded fat quarter pieces and carefully ironed the extra fabric flat onto the back side. Couple of straight pins as needed to keep it flat and tucked in. This way, if I get sick of them, I can take them down or change them up, and still have my fat quarters to whip into some darling future quilt.
