It’s The Simplest Things…

May 27, 2012 Leave a Comment

Ain’t it the truth? Sometimes it’s just so hard to predict what’s going to make your day, and oddly enough, it’s often the smallest, most mundane things that send me to the moon.

Sometimes it’s a simple block…like this bright wonky star I made for a swap partner this month. For some reason, dumping my tub of scraps out all over the floor, and picking through them to find this fresh combo was super therapeutic.

Or sometimes it’s the fact that I dug my husband’s drill out of the garage today and installed a flip lock on the pantry door all by myself. As my chocolate & marshmallow starved children tugged at the knob, wailing in defeat, I could only smile.

Or my new bathroom! Yes, my low-cost, super simple tiny bathroom redo (mind you, it’s my only bathroom!). Am I breaking some cardinal rule if I post pics of my bathroom on my quilting blog? I suppose this is primarily an Amy blog with quilts & sewing fun sprinkled in, so my prized bathroom is appropriate. Most likely you’ll just thank me for having made you feel better about your own bathroom.

BEFORE: Blah.

AFTER: Ahhhhhh…yes.

I’m so proud of this shelf I built with some re-purposed wood scraps!

Found this chandelier at a yard sale for $0.75. Was brass, but a quick shot of black spray paint and it was the perfect addition to my “Tiffany’s” style makeover. The shelves were rescued from the trash and painted, then filled some some meaningful memorabilia.

Hmmm. What else. Quiche. Now that’s something to blog about. And apparently everyone already has.

Did you know that “quiche” is the most highly Google-searched word in the English language? It’s true. Ok, not really, but there are a mind-boggling number of quiche recipes out there, and I think I may have stumbled upon the best one of them all. Think Gouda. I’ve made it twice in the past week and my family is still speaking to me. Need I say more?

Well, the kids are in bed and you know what that means…time to Swiffer a pint of of watermelon juice off the kitchen floor. Ah, the glamorous life of a blogger.

Hope you’re having a lovely weekend, and enjoying some simple pleasures!

XO
