String Pieced Rug Mugs…It Was Just A Matter Of Time

May 31, 2011 Leave a Comment

Is it just me or is every modern quilter on the planet having the same divine epiphany? Yes, string quilt tutorials may soon outnumber celebrity sex tape scandals. And why not? They look rad. I pretty much can’t wait to go to town making one of these. Only 863 other projects in line first, but who’s counting? Talk about inspiration though, seriously…my bookshelves and browser are bursting with luscious string quilts.

Here’s a cute scrappy one called “April In Paris” by Lissa Alexander in the brand-spanking new Moda Bakeshop book Fresh Fabric Treats.

Elizabeth Hartman over at Oh Frannson has some gorgeous samples in her book The Practical Guide to Patchwork.

Bright and fresh over at The Sometimes Crafter...

Juicy & modern from Film In The Fridge…

SO, when I got the invite to a last-minute spoiled surprise party BBQ yesterday, I said, what the heck, I need a quick fun gift idea for a coffee drinker.Best part? Ahhhh, I can hear my overflowing scrap bin shrinking already. Batting, even the binding was leftover from past quilts.

Think I might just make a pair for myself :)
