The Twins Have Arrived!

August 27, 2012 1 Comment

Hooray!!! Little Samuel Henry and Sawyer Noble made their entrance on Friday evening, both weighing in at exactly 3lbs 5oz, with strong little cries and great breathing!

Serious Sam’s on the left, and our little feisty one, Sawyer, is on the right, who of course put his hand up the moment we snapped the shot. Little stinker!

Despite our best efforts to keep these buns in the oven for a couple more weeks, plans suddenly changed when an unexpected (but prepared for) heart rate distress pattern was picked up on the monitor during a routine check. Those little tangled cords were not happy one bit, even when I changed positions, and it quickly became obvious that it was time to act. Within minutes, my hubby arrived threw on some scrubs, they wheeled me back and those babies were out!

I’m recovering well, and the boys are doing awesome!!! They stayed in the level 3 NICU for just one night, and were stable enough to graduate up to the level 2 nursery they very next day. They are now breathing completely on their own, with just a bit of low level oxygen, and are already taking my breastmilk and gaining weight! Even though they are in for several weeks stay, just to give their little bodies time to mature and regulate body temp, work on feeding, etc, we are so thankful! No problems at all- they just need some more time to grow under the loving care of our amazing NICU nurses.

Nora with little Samuel, who’s name she picked out, all by herself, in the first trimester. She is very proud of her contribution!

Overwhelmed with joy, gratitude, and exhaustion! Now it’s time for sleep, and some family time. Taking a short break, but don’t worry, I’ll be back on here again before too long! Thanks again for all of your well wishes and prayers- they have made all the difference!

XO

All the best for you and your family!
