Therapy Comes In Many Forms

September 27, 2012 Leave a Comment

We all cope in different ways. Some drink booze or play fantasy sports….I make high fat, high sugar, desserts and hoard them all for myself in the back of the fridge.

Hey, if I have to pad up to the kitchen two or three times a night to warm up bottles and wash out pumping accessories, I need a little motivation…and it’s arrived in the form of peanut butter and chocolate.

Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Bars
(or just call them “Mommy’s Healthy Nut Bars” to keep your family away)

1 cup melted butter (eek)
2 cups powdered sugar (double eek!)
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 cup + 4 tablespoons peanut butter
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

In a large bowl, mix together the butter, sugar, graham cracker crumbs, and 1 cup of the peanut butter. Line a 9X13 baking pan with wax paper, and spread this mixture evenly across the bottom, flattening it as best as possible and filling all of the corners and sides. Place in the fridge for 15 minutes.

Combine chocolate chips and remaining 4T. of peanut butter in a bowl and microwave for 1-2 minutes to melt the chips (or you can do this in double-boiler fashion on the stove, but that’s too much effort for me!). Stir, and spread this melty mixture on top of the chilled peanut butter layer. Refrigerate for 1 hour. To cut, just grip the wax paper at the edges and pull out the entire deal from the pan. Cut into squares.

Hey, survival is all about the little things. And that includes tiny matching pairs of baby hats!

We’re headed to a newborn photo shoot today! I’m pretty positive that all but the elf hats will be huge on my tiny boys, but eh, whatever, we can pin them. I promise to share some pics when I get them!

What else? Hexi’s of course, one of life’s greatest, tiniest packages of yumminess. Picked up this mag yesterday- learn to machine piece hexagons on page 69? Yes, please! I know there are surely tutorials for this online, and I think I’m even heading to a class on it with Jacquie Gehring at QuiltCon next year, but none of that could stop me from buying this magazine!

Have any of you tried this? The whole marking dots on your hexis and sewing between them? Is it a snap, or take a little finesse? I’m excited to give it a whirl!

Gotta run! Hope you enjoy YOUR little therapies today too!

XO
